Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, a Scholar Awards Program in Women's Health was established to ensure that Ontario attracts and retains pre-eminent women's health scholars.  The community of women's health scholars fostered by this Awards program excels, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the creation of new knowledge about women's health and the improvement of women’s health, more effective health services and products for women, and a strengthened heath care system.

The Scholar Awards Program in Women's Health will not be offered in 2010-11 due to the impact of the global economic downturn on the funds available for the awards program.  The Awards Program will be reinstated once the earnings on the award endowment are restored to an appropriate level.
